S2 Digital Passport

Digital passport is an SQA course at Level 4 (National Progression Award). The aim of the course is to deliver essential digital skills for 21st Century learners. The 3 units are based on the skills which are required by today's employers e.g. communication and presentation. Over 2 years pupils will enhance their IT skills. The 3 units are called: Information Literacy, Network Literacy and Social Media Literacy.

S2/3 Administration and IT

Pupils will use a variety of software to search, sort, interpret and display information.  Once familiar with this software they will use the software to solve problems and issues in the context of a modern office.  In addition pupils will use communication software – the Internet, E-mail, E-diaries, GLOW, etc to recive, send and display information.  Throughout this course pupils will be assessed on their ability to use a computer system in the World of Work.  Pupils will also discuss the role of an Administration Department in a large organisation and look at the tasks and duties of administrative personnel.  At the end of S2 the final assessment is a project where pupils work both indivdually and collaboratively on a series of tasks based around a Leisure Centre.  At the end of S3 pupils will tackle the SQA Added Value Unit (Youth Beat).

INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT – S3 – WATER

The Business Education and IT Department were the overall winners of this S3 IDL Project.  During ‘Water Week’ we undertook various water related activities – watched a DVD on Coca Cola’s use of essential water in India, produced an MS Publisher leaflet on water and undertook some Internet research on Highland Spring.  However, the winning lessons involved two S3 Administration and IT classes.  Pupils blind tasted a variety of bottled waters alongside Jimmy Tap Water.  Pupils scored each cup of water out of 10.  The final results revealed that free Jimmy Tap Water was the best!

Best Joke –

Patient: Doctor, I think I’ve been bitten by a vampire.

Doctor: Drink this water.

Patient:  Will that make me better?

Doctor: No, but I’ll be able to see where your neck leaks!
