Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) : Assemblies

The school has achieved Level 1 of the RRS Award.  This award reflects a school's commitment to raising awareness of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child with young people.

There are 54 articles within the Convention and these mostly relate to young people's rights and responsibilities to ensure that we all live in a safe and happy society.

Pupils will have a RRS assembly this week as detailed below:

At the Rights Respecting Schools Award assembly pupils from the RRSA Steering Group will be highlighting some of the ways we could raise more awareness of the Rights of the Child.  One of these ideas is a homework task which will be issued to all S1-3 pupils via PSE classes which focuses on discussing 'needs and wants' with their parents/grandparents.  The other idea is a literacy task which pupils in S1 will engage in within their English class.  A booklet will also be provided to pupils listing all of the articles relating to Children's Rights.

We would also like to invite parents to join the Rights respecting Schools Award Steering Group.  Any parent/carer interested should contact the school office.

We also have a Rights Respecting Schools page on the website where information will be added.
